New B2 Press for Prime Print Group Expands Production Capabilities

Prime Print Group, Nottinghamshire, has announced the installation of a nearly new Heidelberg Speedmaster 74-5 five-colour B2-format offset printing press to further enhance the company’s printing capabilities. The machine, built in 2009, was purchased from press specialists DPM, Westerham, Kent, and has replaced the Prime Print Group’s B3-format Heidelberg machine.

The new press will allow for the production of a much wider range of work. “The increase to a B2  sheet size means that we will be able to print four pages of A4 to view, business folders, and six-page A4-format newsletters and promotional materials,” said Adrian Tolley, Production Director of the Print Group. “We are really excited by the new press and have already seen some stunning results. The print quality is exceptional, and the range of work that we can now produce really is opening up new doors for the business.

“The success of a service-focused printer depends on its speed and flexibility.  This is where a medium-size press likeAdrian Tolley the Speedmaster 74 can provide for cost and efficiency benefits. It is quick to set-up and offers the flexibility to print on a broad range of substrates, from ultra-light papers through to board and even plastics.”

Prime Print Group is one of the UK’s most creative and cutting edge print and communications companies. In addition to B2 litho printing, the company also offers state-of-the-art digital printing with Hewlett-Packard printing equipment. Their two HP Indigo 7000 series engines can print up to seven-colours, which really can change marketing and print buying habits forever. With a full in-house post-press department, Prime Print Group can complete a client’s project from concept to fulfilment.

Although printing is Prime’s founding service, the company is also one of the best at incorporating, creating and executing cross media projects to add a new digital dimension to any client’s marketing campaign. The company aims to provide a complete marketing and communication solution, delivering exactly what you need to connect to your target audience as smoothly, seamlessly, and transparently as possible.

For the Prime Print Group there is no such thing as “just another piece of print.” This is what over 20 years of experience, service and technology has taught the team at Prime, and maybe it is all that a customer really needs to know.

Commenting on the supply of the equipment, Tim Pawley, Sales Manager at DPM, said: “Prime had a clear idea of where they wanted to go with their printing equipment. Following a detailed discussion it was a relatively simple process to create a clear picture of what press we needed to source for them.” DPM has the best connections in the print industry to enable the company to locate a used press that is right for a customer.

“On this occasion we needed to locate a very young press, and found a machine only two-years-old, suitable to fit in with the digital workflow that was already being employed for the company’s digital printing equipment,” said Tim. “Site visits were arranged to allow Adrian to see the machine, and then review the product during the preparation phase to ensure that it truly met his requirements.”

DPM took control of the whole installation programme for Prime Print Group, including the removal and re-installation of their B3-format machine, and the preparation, transport and installation of the new five-colour machine.

“The most important part of an installation is to provide minimal disruption to day-to-day production at the print business,” added Tim Pawley. “Our engineering team are used to such demands, and were able to make the changes at Prime Print Group as smoothly as possible.”
