Livesey Adds SM52-5 from DPM
Livesey Limited, Shrewsbury, has added a seventh machine to its press hall in the shape of a Heidelberg Speedmaster SM52-5 with low pile delivery. The five-colour 52cm press was purchased from leading used machinery supplier Direct Press Marketing (UK), Westerham, Kent.
Commenting on the purchase, Sue Good, managing director of Livesey, said, “Having installed a B2 six-colour press, we were looking to further expand on our full colour printing capability. The decision to add a five-colour 52cm press was the next stage in our growth as a business. We decided on a used machine because of the cost advantages and the speed with which a press could be introduced to our shopfloor.
“Although we looked at a number of potential suppliers, we found DPM’s attitude to be very helpful indeed. They sourced a suitable machine for us from Germany; took us out there to see it in action; and were able to transport the press to the UK and install the machine at our Shrewsbury factory in just 12 weeks.”
Sue Good believes that the cost of the press provided at least a 30% saving on the price of a new machine. “The print quality is excellent. We have had to have a few minor adjustments made to the machine, but DPM’s engineers have been with us very quickly and carried any necessary work – all covered under the terms of DPM’s warranty.
“Certainly DPM will be our first port of call when we need another press. Everyone involved with the business has been very helpful,” concluded Sue Good.
Established in 1842, Livesey currently employs 55 personnel and handles all elements of the process, including pre-press, printing and finishing. The company also has its own design business, Studio 101. The print room contains a total of seven presses, including large format one and two colour presses, a six-colour B2 machine, and the latest addition, the five-colour SM52. In addition to a full and complete range of commercial print, the company also produces exhibition stands.
