Aeron Invests in Two-Colour Press from DPM
Aeron Printers, Aberaeron, Ceredigion, West Wales, has invested in a two-colour Heidelberg GTO-Z 52+. The machine was purchased from leading used machinery supplier DPM, Westerham, Kent, and demonstrates the suppliers ability to provide presses for all printing tasks.
“DPM is about providing a full used machinery service,” said Mark Sheldrick, managing director at DPM. “It’s not just about the big six-colour B1 or B2 presses – our involvement goes right through the business down to the smaller printer looking to add a new machine to his business.”
The two-colour GTO provides the extra capacity that was required at Aeron Printers, and gives the company the ability to turn work around at the speed demanded by its customers.
“This is our first move into two-colour printing,” said Aeron Printers managing director, Mark Allen. “Our budget was limited, so we knew that a used machine was our best option. We saw DPM’s advertisement in the trade press, and asked them if they could locate a suitable machine. They sourced a 1995 model for us, and the machine was installed and running just a few weeks after our initial enquiry.
“DPM’s own ‘in house’ service team have been back to make one or two minor adjustments to the press,” said Mark Allen, “but that is quite normal, even for a new machine. The press is producing excellent quality work – we are delighted with it.”
Aeron Printers prints a wide range of commercial jobbing work utilising the two-colour GTO, a single colour MO, and Heidelberg Platen. The company employs four personnel.
“Aeron Printers showed tremendous faith in us as a supplier,” added DPM’s Mark Sheldrick. “ We sourced and purchased the machine from Heidelberg in Europe, Aeron then sent us a deposit and paid for the machine when it was delivered. The first time they actually saw the machine was at this point.”
“At the end of the day how much someone spends on kit is all relative. In fact to Aeron this was a massive investment and we had to get it right – it makes no difference, 10 colour B1 or 2 colour B3 machine, each client is treated with the same level of professionalism and personal attention”
