WK360 Latest to Install GW Guillotine from DPM
Commenting on the need for new cutting equipment, Amanda Gatward, Commercial Director at WK360, said: "Like many printers, we rarely view a guillotine as a critical, money making piece of equipment, but in fact it's hard to produce fast turnaround printed product without one! Our existing ageing guillotine was causing some safety concerns when it came to blade change time, and it was therefore necessary to replace the product. DPM offered us a sensibly priced product that did everything that we needed. The GW guillotine has been excellent, and the programmable element of the product has made cutting jobs fast and highly accurate."
The GW K115CL guillotine offers a 115cm cutting width, essential at WK360 as its two Xeikon presses allow for large digital job production, having the capability of producing work up to virtually any length. "We needed a 115cm guillotine in order to cope with the size of jobs that we regularly produce on our Xeikon digital presses," confirmed Amanda Gatward. "The run lengths on a number of our digitally printed jobs have also increased recently, and therefore the installation of the new GW guillotine was very timely."
WK360 had typically been used to production runs in the low hundreds, but recent demands from a number of major customers have regularly moved into the thousands of copies. "We have produced a number of variable data runs in excess of 5,000 recently, and that is great news for us," added Amanda.
Typical WK360 customers include print management companies, creative agencies, and retail companies.
The company has been developing creative solutions to challenges facing marketing and creative professionals since 1979. Although the name has changed, reflecting the changing market over the years, WK360's core family-based ideals remain the same, valuing both staff and customers and listening to both; changing with the times to ensure that both the business and the offering remain strong and relevant.
WK360 offers a fusion of creativity and project management, mixed with technological expertise and a really deep understanding of every market serviced. This makes WK360 more than just another digital printer.
Best known for buying, selling and installing used printing presses, DPM used the recent IPEX show to announce a move into the distribution of new equipment, beginning with the UK agency for GW guillotines.
Commenting on the UK distribution of GW guillotine products, Dean Beckett, Sales Director of DPM, said: "We are delighted to be managing the sales of these excellent Chinese manufactured products. The standards of manufacturing in China are now extremely high, and these guillotine products are fully equipped with all of the latest electronic assistance that you might find on a German made machine, such as touch screen operation and full programmable capability. The products are produced to a very high standard, with high quality chromed air-beds, and Japanese designed electronics from Panasonic. We believe that they are a match for any post-press product currently available.
"We see potential for the products in virtually every print situation. The range of guillotines is suited to all regular formats from B3 right through to B0+ sheet size."
GW guillotines are available in a range of sizes from 78 through to 176 cm, and feature high resolution LCD touch displays, interactive programming systems, high speed back gauge control, remote programming and monitoring options, CIP4 compatibility, rapid knife change capability, and up to 45 cuts per minute.
